Changelog
0.54.1 — 2026-08-21
Highlights
- Codex CLI 0.149.0 compatibility: the usage probe works again after the CLI removed the
untrustedapproval value (#3115). - Layout editor drag-and-drop fixed: chip reordering and the trash drop zone are reachable again, and the trash zone doubles as a click target (#3121).
- Faster relaunches: the Codex priority-turn scan cursor persists across restarts — no more re-scanning the whole trace database on every launch (#3130).
- Faster spend dashboard: provider baselines and Codex multi-account scans load in parallel, cutting cold opens to roughly the slowest single provider (#3105).
- Grok Bot on the Cursor card: weekly included Bot usage appears as a fourth bar next to Total / Cursor / Third Party (#3127).
Fixed
- Fixed the Codex CLI usage probe against Codex CLI 0.149.0: the removed
untrustedapproval value is replaced byneveron both the app-server and isolated status launches, keeping the read-only sandbox (#3115, #3118). Thanks @kiranmagic7! - Fixed menu bar layout editor drag-and-drop: chips are draggable views instead of Buttons (whose gesture recognizer swallowed the drag), so reordering and the trash zone work again — and the trash zone now also removes the selected token on click (#3121). Thanks @J2TeamNNL!
- Fixed Codex profile-home account switches briefly showing another profile's token counts, costs, usage chart, top model, and cost history while the selected profile loads (#3125).
- Fixed the mainland Alibaba Personal/Solo Token Plan always reporting "login required": the console shell now serves its
sec_tokento CodexBar's fetch and the upper-caseSEC_TOKENshape is parsed (#2891, #3098). Thanks @LeoLin990405! - Alibaba: retry the Personal usage gateway's transient empty-Success responses instead of surfacing a parse error (#3128). Thanks @LeoLin990405!
- Fixed long agent session names stretching the menu: session rows now truncate inside the menu's width with the full label in a tooltip (#3096). Thanks @KaranocaVe!
Performance
- Codex: persist the priority-turn trace-database scan cursor across relaunches so a restart resumes incrementally instead of re-scanning the whole
logs_2.sqlite(minutes of full-core CPU on large trace databases); existing cost caches are adopted on upgrade, not rebuilt (#3130). Thanks @olddonkey! - Spend dashboard: load provider baselines and Codex multi-account scans in parallel and memoize currency conversion and calendar buckets, cutting cold opens from multiple seconds to roughly the slowest single provider (#3105). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Providers
- Cursor: show Grok Bot weekly included usage as a fourth card bar sourced from the dashboard's sand-usage endpoint, best-effort and hidden on accounts without a Bot allowance or on legacy request plans (#3127). Thanks @kvarga!
- Codex: show Business/Enterprise individual monthly credit used vs cap on stacked multi-account cards instead of "Limits not available" (#3112). Thanks @sf-jin-ku!
- Claude: migrate email-keyed claude-swap iCloud snapshots to their slot-keyed records and delete the leftover email-keyed predecessors, so other Macs stop showing duplicate fleet cards (#3111). Thanks @sf-jin-ku!
- Claude: distinguish claude-swap accounts that share an email with the workspace name or slot, and honor a user-chosen display alias (#3082). Thanks @sf-jin-ku!
- Kiro: show overage credits spent against their cap, plus accrued charges against the overage budget — reading the plan and overage ceilings from the same
GetUsageLimitsservice the CLI itself calls, with a CLI-report fallback (#3083). Thanks @sf-jin-ku! - Command Code: recognize the repriced Pro tier (
individual-pro-v1, $80/mo in credits) instead of failing with an unknown-plan error (#3116). Thanks @sebastianmarines! - z.ai: show the BigModel CN pay-as-you-go account balance inside Quota details, best-effort and CN-only (#3109). Thanks @RunhuaHuang!
Localization
- Simplified Chinese now labels quota windows by their actual duration ("5 小时" instead of a generic session label), keeping the generic wording for conversations (#3069, #3070). Thanks @YunyueLi!
0.54.0 — 2026-08-20
Highlights
- Blank Settings window fixed: the empty "CodexBar Settings" window that opened on every launch since 0.52.0 is gone (#3048, #3053).
- Crash fix: Codex and Grok no longer abort the whole app when an RPC timeout or child exit races a write to closed subprocess stdin (#3087).
- Conditional menu bar tokens: named, reusable if/then/else rules that swap or hide tokens based on live usage — and the conditions can test any comparable block: usage, reset time, run-out, pace, balance, or cost (#3076, #3088).
- Live Grok & xAI spend: xAI Management API daily spend and local Grok session tokens now flow into Usage & Spend (#3085).
- Honest historical pricing: GPT-5.6 Terra/Luna costs use the rates in effect on each request day, and OpenCodex usage routes into the right subscription rows (#3037, #3046).
Fixed
- Fixed the blank "CodexBar Settings" window that opened on every launch since 0.52.0: the app now declines macOS's untitled-window path and closes the empty SwiftUI Settings placeholder if restoration brings it back (#3048, #3053, #3056). Thanks @elijahfriedman!
- Fixed Codex and Grok app crashes when an RPC timeout or child exit races a write to closed subprocess stdin (#3087, #3095).
- Fixed custom menu bar line breaks so provider icons stay above stacked usage percentages in the menu bar and layout preview (#3089).
- Fixed the native blue selection highlight reappearing on provider cards after cached provider switches: cross-class cached rows now replace the item shell so the highlight override survives (#2998, #3091, #3093). Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Fixed the cost, credits, and usage-breakdown charts so the hover highlight aligns with the bar under the cursor instead of sitting half a day off (#3040, #3049).
- Fixed: Amp CLI parsing follows the new
Amp <plan> Subscription:line format so Megawatt usage windows show again (#3050, #3057). - Fixed Codex cost catch-up getting stuck when recently touched session files contain only out-of-window usage — processed zero-row files now drain from the pending queue and existing stuck states self-heal (#3071, #3075).
- Fixed
codexbar costSIGSEGV on Linux:Bundle.allBundlescrashes under swift-corelibs-foundation, so test detection now checks the main executable path instead (#3058, #3059). Thanks @Lucenx9! - Fixed GPT-5.6 Terra/Luna historical cost aggregates to use the rates in effect on each request day instead of silently repricing pre-2026-07-30 usage at the cut rates (#2671, #3037). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Claude: keep 100% claude-swap usage bars when cswap defers polling at a limit, and name the exhausted window and reset instead of showing "Usage fetch failed." (#3081). Thanks @sf-jin-ku!
Menu Bar & Layouts
- Added conditional tokens to the menu bar layout editor: named, reusable if/then/else rules (1–4 AND/OR clauses over Session/Weekly/Scoped/Auto thresholds) that swap or hide tokens based on live usage, downgrade-safe and localized across all 23 catalogs (#3076). Thanks @wdmitchelluk!
- Menu bar conditionals can now test every comparable block, not just usage percentages: time to reset, run-out estimate, pace, credit balance, today/30-day cost, and the direct primary/secondary/tertiary lanes, with a used/remaining select wherever both readings exist (so "session > 50% used and session resets in < 2h" or "balance remaining >= 5" are expressible). Ships an "Auto % / Resets in" default that shows the percentage while the lane has headroom and the reset countdown once it is spent (#3088). Thanks @wdmitchelluk!
- Added direct primary/secondary/tertiary usage lane tokens to provider-specific menu bar layouts, so Cursor layouts can pin
Total %,Cursor %, orThird Party %(#3038, #3039). Thanks @giuseppebisemi! - Keep custom menu bar layouts safe across downgrades: older releases read a Session/Weekly/Auto projection of lane tokens, Kimi lanes map through its reversed semantic windows, and direct tertiary lanes refresh independently (#3052). Thanks @giuseppebisemi!
- Added a "Show pace" setting to hide the usage pace stripe and forecast text, on by default (#3055). Thanks @urda!
Usage & Spend
- Publish live xAI Management API daily spend and local Grok session tokens into the shared Usage & Spend catalog. Prepaid Grok credits stay a quota (never converted to dollars); xAI prepaid balance stays remaining credit, not spend (#3085). Thanks @Chipagosfinest!
- Share one immutable spend-source catalog between Overview and Usage & Spend: multi-account Codex identities, per-source states, 365-day inputs, configured calendar/currency, and OpenCodex enrichment without double counting (#3067). Thanks @Chipagosfinest!
- Count every enabled provider in Overview spend instead of only the six displayed cards, and bucket Overview spend with the configured calendar so boundary days match the dashboard (#3063, #3064). Thanks @Chipagosfinest!
- Account for every connected provider in Overview spend: exact OpenRouter 30-day Activity spend via an optional management API key, with coverage shown instead of a false
$0when a source can't report (#3054). Thanks @Chipagosfinest! - Fan OpenCodex usage into the matching Codex, OpenCode Go, Kimi, and DeepSeek subscription rows and exclude routed models from Codex session spend totals (#3044, #3046, #3047). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Chart OpenCodex spend by per-request hour in the pinned timezone instead of session last-activity (#3031). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Union spend dashboard token activity across sources with partial coverage instead of blanking days any single source missed (#3042). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Coalesce spend dashboard refreshes during in-flight same-owner revision churn and skip same-day rescans on pane revisits (#3041). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Keep Copy JSON alongside a new save-to-file panel for Usage & Spend JSON exports (#3032). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Keep model rows with cost visible on the spend dashboard when only some breakdowns report tokens (#3045). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Show spend dashboard row metrics as cost and tokens together instead of cost-only (#3043). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Documented custom-pricing overlays and the Usage & Spend surface (#3033). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Providers
- Codex: added a personal-access-token usage source —
personal_access_tokeninauth.jsongets its own PAT strategy (whoami then/wham/usage), Auto prefers a usable PAT and falls back to OAuth/CLI, and ambient-home PATs are found when a managed profile would hide them (#3060). Thanks @oakimov! - Fireworks: auto-discover account slugs from API keys and report invalid or ambiguous accounts instead of silently showing no spend (#3068, #3074).
- OpenCode Go: use the public authenticated usage API when
OPENCODE_API_KEYis configured, overlaying authoritative rolling/weekly/monthly windows on local history with cookie fallback (#2879, #3065). Thanks @akshayprabhu200! - Hide untouched Antigravity model families in the
codexbar serveweb dashboard, matching the menu and widgets (#3061). Thanks @urda!
Localization
- Localized provider usage details in Simplified Chinese: DeepSeek detailed usage/balance, z.ai/GLM quota details, token charts, and the 5-hour reset text (#3084). Thanks @haixing23!
- Localized remaining provider-detail edge cases in Simplified Chinese: DeepSeek zero-balance/unavailable-API text, z.ai one-sided quota values, credit-plan rates, peak/off-peak states, and countdown shapes (#3086). Thanks @haixing23!
- Fixed inconsistent German localization of "About" ("Um" → "Über") (#3077). Thanks @dwt!
- Localized the Codex local session cost estimate setting in Korean (#3034). Thanks @Yoonkeee!
Docs
- Documented the AI Usage Limits Stream Deck plugin in the README integrations list (#3066). Thanks @lenadweb!
0.53.0 — 2026-08-18
Highlights
- Usage & Spend, rebuilt: explicit cost provenance and coverage everywhere — token mix, an hourly activity heatmap, an All-time range, per-request custom pricing overlays, and opt-in read-only OpenCodex import. Estimates are labeled, partial totals show their coverage, and nothing unpriced masquerades as a real bill.
- Settings window fixed for good: the invisible keepalive-window hack is gone (#3003) and its regression is repaired with a proper retained window controller (#3029) — Settings now opens reliably, in front, every time.
- Crash fixes: the fatal CloudKit sync assertion (#3030) and misleading Codex RPC timeout errors (#3022) are gone.
Usage & Spend
- Add explicit cost provenance, coverage counters, and a pinned IANA day-bucketing timezone while making uncertain Codex fork accounting fail closed (#3015). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Add token mix, coverage, conversation totals, source visibility controls, and an hourly activity heatmap to the spend dashboard (#3017). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Add an All time range alongside 7d/30d, backed by 365 days of local history with dedicated Claude and Cursor spend snapshot slots (#3009). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Support exact-match custom pricing above models.dev and built-in rates, preserving missing fields as unknown and explicit zero rates as free (#3016). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Add opt-in, read-only OpenCodex
usage.jsonlimport with its SQLite cache isolated in CodexBar's own cache directory (#3018). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao! - Show selected-provider usage and spend in the Overview with partial-price, coverage, and provenance context (#3023). Thanks @Chipagosfinest!
- Sum priced subscriptions into a ~$ partial estimate with coverage shown when some subscriptions lack prices, instead of hiding the total (#3001). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Keep unpriced named models visible in the model breakdown list instead of dropping the whole source (#3004). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Keep priced Cursor days visible when some events omit totalCents, and stop invalid Cursor model costs from reviving on later events (#3005). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Claude spend: price bare first-party model IDs from their models.dev vendor catalog, preserve explicit routes, and leave ambiguous cross-vendor matches unpriced (#3002). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Save Export JSON through a native file panel and keep Copy JSON for quick clipboard access (#3032). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Reliability
- iCloud sync: stop awaiting CKSyncEngine from within its own delegate callbacks, fixing a fatal CloudKit assertion crash minutes after launch with sync enabled (#3030). Thanks @toads for the crash forensics!
- Settings: replace the selector-based Settings opener with a retained window controller, fixing silently failing or behind-other-apps Settings opening after the keepalive removal, and repairing localized application-menu commands (#3029). Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Codex: classify app-server request timeouts before terminating the subprocess, so timeouts no longer surface as misleading EOF/malformed-response errors (#3022). Thanks @Chipagosfinest!
- OpenCode Go: surface expired selected session tokens instead of silently replacing failed server usage with local quota estimates (#2993). Thanks @Niclassslua!
- Cursor: keep an API-validated usage result when the Keychain cache is temporarily unavailable, instead of treating it as a missing or replaced session (#3000). Thanks @hxy91819!
- Menu: prevent the system menu highlight from painting behind provider detail cards on macOS 27 beta (#2998). Thanks @Tan1103!
Providers & CLI
- Grok: add an Auto / Grok CLI / SuperGrok OAuth / Browser cookies source picker, support pasted SuperGrok bearers and grok.com cookies in token accounts, and open
~/.grok/auth.jsonfrom Open token file (#3010). Thanks @oakimov! - CLI: add
codexbar usage --format toonemitting the JSON payload as TOON v4.1 for agents that prefer denser structured output (#2996, #3021). Thanks @elijahfriedman and @teseo for the spec! - CLI: align
codexbar cost --jsonwith spend provenance, token mix, coverage, and opt-in OpenCodex payloads (#3019). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Settings
- Turn Low Power Mode into an Off/On/Automatic preference, with Automatic following the system Low Power Mode state (#2995). Thanks @elijahfriedman!
- Style the Quit CodexBar button as a prominent accent-color button and remove its stray section background (#2992). Thanks @elijahfriedman!
0.52.0 — 2026-08-17
Added
- Usage & Spend: aggregate per-project spend into ranked, window-scoped rows and carry project/session breakdowns through the cached Codex prefill so the dashboard and the menu chart agree on project data (#2984). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Usage & Spend: add a Projects panel to the settings pane and let the Models and Projects lists expand beyond the top eight rows (#2985). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Fixed
- Mission Control: remove the invisible lifecycle keepalive window entirely; the rebuilt Settings window no longer needs it, eliminating the floating all-Spaces WindowServer footprint that dismissed Mission Control on macOS 27 (#2955, #2997, #3003). Thanks @phuchong89 for the diagnostics!
- Cost history chart: localize the Projects, Conversations, session, and standard/fast mode labels that previously stayed English for all 23 app languages (#2983). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Grok: show SuperGrok Heavy from the CLI settings
subscription_tier_displayinstead of labeling every OIDC login as SuperGrok (#2991). Thanks @olddonkey!
0.51.0 — 2026-08-16
Added
- CLI: add
codexbar cost --group-by sessionfor per-conversation Codex session cost breakdowns in text output (#2854). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Fixed
- Keychain: keep background browser imports non-interactive, honor the global access gate, retire the obsolete prompt-capable startup migration, and retry unreadable unified migrations without clearing secrets (#2986).
- OpenCode Go: label local-only quota windows as estimates in the menu and CLI when Auto has no server-confirmed usage (#2982). Thanks @Newarr!
0.50.1 — 2026-08-16
Added
- Kiro: add an explicit Re-authenticate action that runs
kiro-cli login, surfaces device-flow instructions, and refreshes usage only after a successful login (#2340). Thanks @Vit129! - Providers: add a per-provider accent color override with a hex field, a color well, and a reset to the shipped color; it applies to usage bars, charts, switcher tabs, widgets, and the
codexbar servedashboard, and syncs across Macs (#2972). Thanks @urda! - Usage bars: make workday tick marks configurable with hidden, subtle, and high-contrast appearances (#2904, #2950). Thanks @dstier-git!
- Settings: allow minimizing the Settings window while keeping its Dock tile available for restoring it (#2945). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Widgets: opt-in display of Claude model-scoped weekly quotas (for example Fable) projected from the shared usage snapshot, off by default (#2645). Thanks @alfredjbclaw!
Fixed
- Claude: let Auto reuse a working CLI fallback when OAuth Keychain access is revoked by Claude Code token rotation, distinguish revoked access from missing credentials, and keep last-known quota history visible with its capture age when every live source fails (#2516). Thanks @axisrow and everyone who supplied forensics!
- Menu: apply the cost summary display style to every provider's menu card, so Submenu only hides inline cost rows for z.ai and other providers (#2976). Thanks @ar0nbg!
- Cost history: align x-axis date labels with their bars in status-menu charts (#2974). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Codex: preserve completed empty local history as known-zero usage and spend without fabricating zeroes for incomplete scans (#2932). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Codex: keep CLI-owned
auth.jsonread-only during usage refresh, delegate stale native credentials to CLI recovery, and fail closed for stale external OAuth files (#2944). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao! - Usage & Spend: keep safely priced Codex totals visible after completed history scans when request-tier uncertainty leaves some days unpriced (#2948). Thanks @Atopoz for the report!
- Vertex AI: match Cloud Monitoring quota usage without a
limit_nameto its unambiguous same-metric, same-location limit, restoring quota percentages (#2958). Thanks @MachApple! - Cursor: rename the included-usage split to Cursor and Third Party across menu, widgets, and menu-bar windows, matching Cursor's dashboard labels (#2951). Thanks @baanish!
- OpenCode Go: report pace for the 5-hour and weekly usage windows in CLI text and JSON output (#2957). Thanks @kentoku24!
- Mistral: show current-month API spend in Icon and Percent menu-bar layouts when pay-as-you-go accounts have no rate window (#2821, #2947). Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- CLI: keep Codex app-server notifications and child diagnostics behind verbose logging instead of writing them to stderr on every probe (#2952). Thanks @urda!
- Ollama: strip copied
Cookie:and cURL syntax before sending manual WorkOS session headers when another cookie appears first (#2949). Thanks @Skythrill256! - Antigravity: render one lane per quota bucket on the serve dashboard and in
codexbar dashboard, instead of repeating two buckets as extra "Gemini Models" and "Claude and GPT" rows (#2963). Thanks @urda! - Serve: follow the app's "Hide personal information" setting on the web dashboard when no
--identityflag is given, resolving the mode per request so the toggle applies without a serve restart (#2960). Thanks @urda! - Codex cost: price provider-qualified routed models (OpenCodex, DeepSeek, Kimi routes) against their matching models.dev provider, keeping unknown route prefixes unpriced instead of falling back to OpenAI rates (#2946). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- CLI releases: record only the asset basename in release checksum sidecars so
sha256sum -cverifies downloads anywhere, instead of embedding runner-local absolute paths (#2971, #2973). Thanks @shockbladenull!
0.50.0 — 2026-08-15
Added
- Cursor: on macOS, prefer Cursor.app's read-only local session in Automatic mode, persist validated sessions securely, and surface account mismatches before falling back to browser cookies (#2398). Thanks @markmay for the direction!
- Cost history: add a Tokens/Cost switch to daily status-menu charts, defaulting Codex to exact local token totals and marking incomplete local history as refreshing (#2930). Thanks @Carl723000!
- Menu bar layout: add a compact run-out forecast token that shows only the predicted duration (#2865). Thanks @gnattu!
Fixed
- Codex: replace OpenAI login instructions with accurate rate-limit guidance when the CLI uses Amazon Bedrock or another custom backend without ChatGPT authentication (#2679). Thanks @italo-drm!
- Widgets: let macOS desktop styling remove the Burn Down widgets' gradient container background (#2367). Thanks @FrancisKa!
- Grok: label the current weekly credit window near reset instead of falling back to the ambiguous “Credits” title (#2929). Thanks @byteofsam!
- Codex: show Business accounts' monthly credit remaining in the provider switcher when no session or weekly rate-limit window is available, and keep quota indicators visible on the selected provider tab (#2926). Thanks @jey3dayo!
- Gemini: offer the Antigravity provider migration when local OAuth recovery cannot use Gemini CLI and an
agyor Antigravity installation is available (#2808). Thanks @axisrow! - Provider status: omit status-page transport errors from menus until a real status fetch succeeds, while preserving the last successful status through later fetch failures (#2925). Thanks @tomarai85!
0.49.6 — 2026-08-14
Fixed
- Antigravity: hide untouched model families from compact menu cards and widgets while keeping unknown-usage families visible and preserving every family in provider details and all-untouched states (#2875). Thanks @urda!
- Menu bar layout: show the weekly pace reserve token after 1% of the quota window has elapsed, even when learned history still predicts less than 1% expected usage (#2842, #2853). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Amp: support monthly Megawatt and Gigawatt subscription renewals with separate Other and Orb usage pools, and reset the daily free tier at 8:00 PM New York time (#2601). Thanks @3kh0!
- Ollama: allow the
autoandwebusage sources on Linux when a non-empty manual Cookie header is configured, while keeping automatic browser-cookie imports gated to supported platforms (#2919). Thanks @dhabyx! - Codex: preserve the wider retained cost history when Usage & Spend saves a 7- or 30-day projection under cache row/byte pressure, instead of pruning older rows and narrowing the persisted scan window (#2914, #2915). Thanks @thomaschow19!
- Claude: reuse the last successful CLI usage result for 15 minutes during background refreshes instead of relaunching the ~280 MB Claude Code binary on every tick, cutting background disk reads and process churn for CLI-sourced usage; manual refreshes still probe immediately (#2916).
- CLI (Linux): stop creating and invalidating a URLSession per Antigravity localhost request; per-request session teardown exercised a FoundationNetworking/libdispatch socket-lifecycle race that could crash serve daemons and one-shot usage runs with a use-after-free (#2243). Thanks @psl75011 for the crash forensics!
0.49.5 — 2026-08-13
Fixed
- OpenCode: show pay-as-you-go monthly spend and prepaid balance instead of failing with HTTP 500 when the workspace has no subscription, without misclassifying subscription accounts after a transient API failure (#2504, fixes #2697). Thanks @epoch-chrono for the fix and @CripWal for the report!
- Grok: restore web billing after grok.com's credits endpoint began requiring a browser-held WKE credential, by reading the weekly credit pool from the Grok CLI billing API with the local grok login token, and clarify the cookie-rejection guidance (#2812). Thanks @wxhnewStar!
- Settings: keep the Settings window on the active Stage Manager stage/Space via
.moveToActiveSpace, and key only newly presented Settings/update dialogs when Dock promotion runs (#2833). Thanks @KGBos! - Codex: keep large Usage & Spend history indexing bounded, durable across relaunches, and resumable after appends without replaying completed sessions (#2815, #2849). Thanks @Quicksaver for the fix and @Yoroin, @xiehaibin18, and @Astro-Han for reports and diagnostics!
- Codex: make Finish now accelerate the full configured cost-history window while retaining the 30-day floor (#2861, #2864). Thanks @thomaschow19 for the report and fix!
- Codex: detect semantic cost-history progress across bounded passes and stop cyclic catch-up without treating live appends as progress (#2815, #2861, #2844). Thanks @pavbar!
- Codex: show the administrator-defined monthly usage limit for EDU/workspace accounts by querying the spend-controls monthly-usage endpoint when wham/usage omits it (#2900). Thanks @ygnask!
- Merged menu: provider detail cards that render the inline token/cost chart now open the cost-history submenu on hover, matching the Overview card (#2885). Thanks @SJY051!
- Claude: keep environment- and CodexBar-owned OAuth usage authoritative when the local Claude CLI account switches mid-fetch, preserve background CLI availability across cancelled refreshes, and carry OAuth credential ownership through web-extras enrichment (#2591). Thanks @ProspectOre!
- Menu bar layout: surface a leading icon token as the native status-item image so it follows the system's inactive-display dimming, render it at the standard 18 pt size, dim stale snapshots, and add a stepper-tuned vertical adjustment that moves icon and text together (#2365, #2898). Thanks @luantu!
0.49.4 — 2026-08-13
Added
- Terminal picker: offer Ghostty 1.3+ as a default terminal for Open Terminal and provider login commands, falling back to Terminal.app when unavailable (#2830). Thanks @darwinz!
- Currency: Czech koruna (CZK) in the preferred-currency picker (#2886). Thanks @vAhyThe!
Fixed
- Codex: confirm a legitimate server-side early weekly reset when the account has zero available reset credits, instead of preserving a stale weekly percentage forever (#2790, #2897). Thanks @kcharlan for the report and @luantu for the fix!
- Ollama: keep recovering via browser cookies when a cached session cookie expires during a background refresh, instead of spuriously demanding re-sign-in (#2072, #2814). Thanks @fishcharlie for the report and @axisrow for the fix!
- Claude: gate the background CLI usage fetch on confirmed-absent OAuth credentials so transient credential states no longer trigger unwanted CLI launches (#2813). Thanks @axisrow!
- Cost history: keep a genuine zero 30-day cost or token total distinct from unavailable data when every daily row carries explicit values (#2896). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Claude: refresh the detected CLI version after a successful manual CLI usage fetch, so the provider pane no longer shows "not detected" when the gated startup probe could not run
claude --version(#2899). - Token activity: draw the Cumulative running total at the default 30-day history window instead of a blank grid, and keep the week clipped by the scan window (#2893). Thanks @urda!
- LongCat: read live usage from the token-packs summary endpoint, falling back to the legacy token-usage endpoint when no active token lot is available (#2670).
- Antigravity: detect Google's renamed Gemini desktop app (
com.google.GeminiMacOS,Gemini.app) for OAuth client discovery and language-server process matching, alongside the legacy Antigravity identifiers (#2836). Thanks @wxomi for the report and diagnostics! - Cost history: avoid reporting partial token or cost totals when any daily row lacks that value.
- CLI: escalate RPC child teardown (codex app-server, grok agent stdio) from SIGTERM to SIGKILL with a bounded wait and stdin EOF, preventing orphaned children and file-descriptor exhaustion in long-running serve (#2789). Thanks @psl75011 and @simonsteiner!
- PTY probes: bound hard-stop latency while still cleaning session-escaped output holders.
- Codex: stop the hidden ChatGPT dashboard WebView from staying resident after usage refresh, so idle WebKit helper processes can return to zero.
- Cost history: honor the preferred display currency throughout the detail chart and refresh converted labels when exchange rates change (#2887). Thanks @vAhyThe!
- Codex: preserve requested Spend Dashboard history when the local cost cache exceeds its byte budget, rather than deleting in-window sessions or repeatedly rebuilding protected data (#2823). Thanks @WillStark for the report and @Whiteknight07 for the initial fix!
0.49.3 — 2026-08-12
Fixed
- CLI: load bundled provider-plugin resources when
codexbaris installed as a symlink to the packaged helper or standalone executable (#2889). Thanks @djbclark for the report! - Menu bar layout: restore dragging placed chips to reorder or remove them while preserving click and keyboard selection (#2582). Thanks @ikkira!
- Plan history: avoid atomically replacing byte-identical provider history files, reducing unnecessary disk writes (#2495). Thanks @guocity for the report!
- OpenRouter: restore remaining credit balance in saved custom menu-bar layouts and preserve the legacy Automatic display during migration (#2870). Thanks @yuansaysay!
- Claude: distinguish claude-swap account switching from ambient Claude Code sign-in in the menu without changing either action (#2874). Thanks @ynaamane!
- Codex: avoid full SQLite cost-cache rewrites for unchanged scans while preserving retention, freshness, and concurrent saves (#2852). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Azure OpenAI: allow enough v1 completion budget for reasoning-capable deployment validation while keeping the probe bounded (#2867). Thanks @yilinxia!
- Codex: preserve request-level pricing tiers while reconciling forked usage, preventing day aggregates from triggering long-context rates (#2858). Thanks @thomaschow19!
- CLI: stop standalone version lookup from walking past the filesystem root and hanging with unbounded memory on affected macOS versions (#2856). Thanks @Manwholikespie!
- Cost store: prevent launch-time executor-assumption crashes on macOS 15 by keeping synchronous SQLite cache bridges on their validated serial queue (#2857). Thanks @Manwholikespie!
0.49.2 — 2026-08-10
Fixed
- Sync: collapse duplicate usage rows for the same provider account across Macs, with the current Mac's configured result taking precedence over synced copies.
- Menu cards: show session quota as exhausted until the final reset of every binding weekly/monthly plan lane, while preserving session-specific details and independent purchased credits (#2840). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Menu cards: keep primary usage values and long localized reset timestamps readable by stacking the row only when both cannot fit (#2846). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Plugins: honor the “Usage bars fill” remaining/used setting in user-installed provider cards, keeping percentage labels and bar direction aligned (#2749). Thanks @RyloRiz!
- Sub2API: localize and group menu-card quota labels and request, token, and cost totals into a compact usage summary (#2835). Thanks @weirdo-adam!
- Codex: avoid repeatedly converting historical token snapshots during cost-cache refreshes, preventing sustained CPU usage on large session histories.
- Codex: make automatic cost-history catch-up near-idle and limit local-history scans to provider refreshes with a 15-minute energy floor.
- Agent Sessions: stop inactive local and remote refresh schedulers from waking while monitoring is disabled.
- Cost usage: refresh token-cost data when “Refresh all providers on menu open” is enabled, with a one-minute scan floor to avoid repeated work (#2388). Thanks @betive37!
0.49.1 — 2026-08-09
Fixed
- DeepInfra: show billing-cycle spend against a positive spending limit in the automatic menu-bar icon (#2822). Thanks @selfagency for the report!
- z.ai: restore pace for verified 5-hour, weekly, and MCP-monthly usage windows without treating rolling 30-day limits as calendar months (#2431). Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Codex: publish refreshed core quota immediately while optional Credits and OpenAI Web enrichment continues, without unfreezing cards whose layout still needs reconciliation (#2799). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Menu bar: keep DeepSeek balances compact and consistent between saved custom layouts and their live editor preview (#2638). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Settings: show CodexBar in the Dock while Settings or an update dialog is open, so Check for Updates and new-version prompts reliably appear in front.
- Claude CLI: let explicit CLI usage and Auto fallback delegate authentication to the installed Claude executable, so an unavailable browser session no longer masks usable reduced-fidelity CLI usage.
- Sessions: make the additional SSH hosts setting visibly editable, with an accepted-format hint and accessibility help (#2804). Thanks @akshayprabhu200!
0.49.0 — 2026-08-09
Added
- Fireworks: track 30-day rated billing spend with an API key and account slug (#2687). Thanks @x0mh0x!
- IBM Bob: track monthly Bobcoin budget and usage across subscription teams via API key (#2690). Thanks @VACInc!
- Notion: expose monthly usage, percentage, and pace tokens in custom menu-bar layouts (#2727). Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- z.ai: show the current peak/off-peak quota burn rate and schedule in provider details (#2721). Thanks @cruzanstx!
Fixed
- PTY probes: abort output-overflow children through a bounded process-group kill path, avoiding minute-long cleanup stalls under load (refs #2792).
- PTY runner: drain short-lived commands to terminal closure after exit, preventing false empty probe results when output is still buffered.
- Cost store: give the store actor's custom serial executor an
isIsolatingCurrentContext()implementation — macOS 26+ runtimes consult it beforecheckIsolated(), and its default cannot see throughDispatchQueue.sync, so every synchronous store bridge tripped "Incorrect actor executor assumption" and the app died on launch. - Codex: reject Standard/Fast pricing rows that exceed canonical fork-deduplicated usage, preventing copied fork rows and their Fast surcharge from inflating cost estimates (#2754). Thanks @1328189205 for the report and @Yuxin-Qiao for the initial fix and regression-test approach!
- Claude: stop rotating Claude Code's refresh-token chain on keychain-only installs — ownership evidence is tri-state with indeterminate treated as CLI-owned, delegated refreshes cannot invalidate unreadable credentials, and token-lineage changes no longer block recovery (#2745, refs #2689, #2634). Thanks @avenoxai!
- Plugins: run the QuickJS worker and TypeScript transpiler on Thread subclasses instead of Thread(block:) closures — binaries built with the Xcode 26.3 SDK inferred @MainActor on those blocks, and macOS runtimes that enforce dynamic isolation crashed (SIGTRAP) on the first plugin fetch; this was the deterministic macOS CI shard crash since #2775 and could crash shipped builds at runtime.
- Plugins: the QuickJS HTTP/cookie bridge now starts a request's per-call timeout when the transport actually begins executing instead of when it is scheduled, so short deadlines (like OpenRouter's one-second key fast join) no longer fire spuriously under CPU load (refs #2778).
- Codex: preserve recently modified cost-cache sessions across complete local calendar-day windows, avoiding needless rediscovery and rescans (#2764). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Claude: restore OAuth usage on Claude Code 2.1.x via an explicit, default-off "Allow reading Claude Code's credentials" opt-in that reopens the direct Keychain read, freshness sync, and refresh verification together, plus an automatic Claude CLI usage fallback (labeled with reduced fidelity) when consent is off (#2634). Thanks @Astro-Han, @kes02, and @Komunikuji for the deep diagnostics!
- Codex: decode monthly credit limits from
spend_control.individual_limitand accept thereset_atspelling, so team and enterprise workspaces keep their credits payload (#2737). Thanks @guhyun9454! - Codex: price persisted usage from token classes when reports are read, so a cold rebuild racing the models.dev catalog can no longer permanently bake fallback rates into SQLite (#2772).
- OpenRouter: keep optional key-quota enrichment on its one-second production fast join while making degraded results explicit and preventing loaded CI parity runs from mistaking the fallback snapshot for a golden mismatch (fixes #2778).
- Codex: the SQLite cost store now writes each save cycle inside one transaction, so a crash or kill mid-save can never leave session rows updated against stale day aggregates — the previous state survives intact, matching the old JSON path's atomic file replace (refs #2760).
- Provider plugins: run each QuickJS context on a dedicated 4 MiB-stack thread, refresh stack bounds at every JavaScript entry, and leave 3 MiB of native headroom so deep recursion raises a clean stack-overflow error instead of crashing.
- Codex: SQLite cost saves no longer rescan every stored row and snapshot per file — baseline counts and file lookups are precomputed once, cutting a large-corpus (1,700+ sessions) save pass from minutes of CPU to seconds (refs #2760).
- Codex: restore JSON-cache retention semantics lost in the SQLite cutover — discovery pruning now reaches the scanner's round-tripped payload so deleted files stop resurfacing, the row budget never sacrifices in-window or recently active sessions, and fork-parent protection again drops stale lineage-only parents (refs #2760).
- Codex: the SQLite cost store no longer deletes the whole database on transient failures — lock contention from a concurrent CLI/app writer, disk-full, or a constraint violation now preserve history and only genuine corruption or schema drift triggers a rebuild, which is now logged (refs #2760).
- Menu: let compact and long metric detail/reset rows wrap to two lines without clipping cached card heights, so localized pace and reset text stays complete (#2742, refs #2182). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Kimi: use official usage lane names and hide the Code 7-day row only when it duplicates the primary seven-day quota (matching percentage and reset) (#2741). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Menu bar: keep custom reset-countdown tokens aligned with the opened menu by using the exact display clock instead of rounding to the wall minute (#2735). Thanks @hyuntaedotkim!
- Codex: apply a manual reset even when the provider omits the redeemed credit from the next inventory — both samples must corroborate consumption, and the exemption stays one-shot (#2728). Thanks @endless7!
- CLI: ship and safely resolve the provider-plugin resource bundle beside standalone executables, returning a clean reinstall/update error instead of trapping when it is missing (#2756).
- CLI: claude-swap accounts with expired or missing credentials now keep their email on the serve dashboard instead of showing a bare slot number.
- Claude: the menu-bar indicator now renders the active claude-swap account's usage when the adapter owns account presentation (2+ accounts), instead of drawing empty bars from an ambient snapshot without usable windows (#2731). Thanks @Meldiron for the report!
- Cursor: normalize visible membership labels for Start, Pro Trial, Pro+, Student, Ultra, and unknown plans (#2729). Thanks @olddonkey!
- z.ai/GLM: parse
CREDIT_LIMITquota entries from credit-based Coding Plans (lite/standard/pro) so usage no longer sticks at 100% remaining / 0% used and the 5-hour credit window drives the primary percentage and reset time (#2724, #2712). Thanks @stuible!
Changed
- Provider plugins: cut ClinePass usage over to the bundled TypeScript implementation on macOS and Linux.
- Provider plugins: accept identity-only and cost-only snapshots, support one delayed
Retry-Afterretry and HTTP status matching, and allow approval-bound private-network HTTP origins. - Codex: cost history now lives in a single SQLite store — bounded memory at any corpus size, append-linear catch-up, and no more multi-hundred-MB JSON decode on refresh (#2760). Thanks @xx205 for the accumulator design!
- CLI: dashboard snapshot identity now defaults to full; use
--identity redactedto restore redacted emails. - Provider plugins: run the same bundled JavaScript providers and local plugin CLI on Linux through a sandboxed QuickJS engine, removing the cut-over providers' Linux-only Swift twins.
- Provider plugins: use QuickJS on every platform with byte-identical output and hard interruption for hung scripts; Apple builds retain JavaScriptCore as an explicit rollback engine.
0.48.1 — 2026-08-07
Fixed
- App: fix the 0.48.0 crash-at-launch "could not load resource bundle: CodexBar_CodexBarCore.bundle" — the new provider-plugin runtime loaded its bundled scripts through the autogenerated
Bundle.moduleaccessor, which only probes the app root and the build machine's compile-time path; resources now resolve through a safe accessor that checksContents/Resourcesfirst, with a source-level regression gate (#2738, #2730).
Added
- CLI: add provider/detail snapshot queries and progressive cached-shell rendering to the built-in serve dashboard.
Fixed
- CLI: answer expired serve-cache requests from the last-good response while rebuilding in the background instead of blocking the dashboard for up to a minute.
0.48.0 — 2026-08-06
Added
- CLI: expose Codex cost-history completeness in JSON and add an experimental provider-native-only scan mode (#2520). Thanks @NickGuAI!
- CLI: add a built-in auto-refreshing web dashboard at
/tocodexbar serve. - CLI: the serve web dashboard renders per-account sections for claude-swap providers, and
codexbar serve --identity fullopts authorized dashboard clients into real account emails on trusted, private networks. - CLI: the serve web dashboard gains daily spend bar charts from local cost history, real provider brand icons served from an embedded
/icons/route, and a grouped vertical layout — multi-account providers render one card per account under a titled section. - CLI:
codexbar dashboard --output <path>atomically writes the snapshot to a file (temp file + fsync + rename,0644) instead of stdout, so static-webroot publishers no longer need a shell wrapper. - Dashboard v1 snapshot: Claude rows now include all claude-swap accounts (windows, pace, active flag, redacted identity) when the integration is enabled.
- Usage & Spend: add an accessible daily, weekly, and cumulative token-activity heatmap backed by the existing persistent cost scan cache (#2548). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Provider plugins: install local JavaScript or TypeScript providers with manifest-driven settings and generic menu cards, approval-bound network/cookie access, and sandboxed Sucrase transpilation.
- Provider plugins: declarative detail rows/charts plus bundled JavaScript conversions for OpenAI, z.ai, OpenRouter, Poe, and ClawRouter behind
CODEXBAR_JS_PROVIDERS=1. - Settings: the sidebar is now resizable — drag the divider between 200–380pt; the width persists across launches.
- Kimi: enrich Code API and CLI usage with the monthly membership pool from a signed-in Kimi Desktop session, using WAL-safe read-only cookie access (#2351). Thanks @Leehow!
- Kimi/GLM: distinguish Kimi Code from the regional Open Platform, bind China and international keys to their issuing hosts, and show GLM Coding Plan's 5-hour window as primary with MCP separate (#2351). Thanks @Leehow!
- z.ai/GLM: route BigModel aliases and relay-file keys only to China endpoints, reject canonical cross-region overrides before bearer auth, and keep Kimi browser import disabled when Cookie Source is Off (#2351). Thanks @Leehow!
- Sessions: discover live pi and OMP sessions through one Pi-family scanner, with dialect-aware metadata, PID-only startup rows, and mixed-version CLI/remote support (#2529). Thanks @wdmitchelluk!
- OpenCode Go: per-model cost and request breakdowns by day in the shared cost history chart, resolved from the local session database (#2649). Thanks @kentoku24!
- Copilot: decode the AI credits counter for token-billed seats and expose it in
codexbar diagnose, so Business seats with zero-entitlement quotas are no longer blank at the data layer (#2613, refs #2593). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao, and @KSEGIT for the discovery! - CLI: expose Codex cost-history completeness in JSON and add an experimental provider-native-only scan mode (#2520). Thanks @NickGuAI!
- Currency: Korean won (KRW) in the preferred-currency picker, with correct zero-decimal formatting (#2669, refs #2449). Thanks @kes02!
Changed
- Breaking JSON change: provider-specific usage payload keys are being removed from
codexbar usage --format json, serve /usage, and synced snapshots in favor of the generic Codableusage.detailssections. The app and text CLI now render those same declarative rows and charts. - Provider plugins: use the bundled JavaScript implementation by default for Crof, Venice, OpenRouter, ClawRouter, Deepgram, and sub2api on macOS, with identical golden-tested output and the native fetchers retained only for the Linux CLI.
- Menu: move each usage window's used percentage and reset time into its title row, with all pace detail on one line (#2182). Thanks @jack24254029!
- Codex: define Fast cost as estimated API Fast USD, resolve it models.dev-first with model-specific API ratios, and refresh GPT-5.6 Terra/Luna fallback rates (refs #2175). Thanks @iam-brain!
- Settings: refresh the Plugins pane to match the other panes — labeled install and directory rows with a Show in Finder affordance, a tilde-abbreviated path, a properly sized empty state, and consistent section footers.
- Settings: localize every Plugins pane control, status, approval prompt, and alert across all complete app locales.
Fixed
- Menu: make the Usage bars fill setting apply to percentage labels as well as bars again. Thanks @FrankSmithXYZ!
- Codex: bound the persisted cost-usage cache with entry/byte budgets, window-aware pruning, and a load-refusal cap, so the main process no longer grows without limit on large session corpora (#2646, refs #2637). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Codex: resume fork catch-up from a validated cached offset when a rollout is appended, charging only the appended suffix against scan budgets instead of restarting the bounded full scan (#2648). Thanks @xx205!
- Claude: report a provably unreadable OAuth delegated refresh as terminal with a long cooldown, instead of looping "run claude login, then retry" and relaunching the CLI every poll cycle (#2650, refs #2634). Thanks @kes02!
- Overview: stop the infinite menu flicker when hovering between provider chart submenus with Agent Sessions enabled — no-op session rescans no longer invalidate menus, submenu hovers no longer trigger rescans, and session updates defer tracked-parent rebuilds like other data refreshes (#2652). Thanks @qazi0!
- Codex: classify rate windows by duration, so a 30-day window renders as Monthly with its real reset countdown instead of masquerading as the Session card — consistently across the provider card, widgets, and submenu (#2600, fixes #2592). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Codex: apply a manual reset immediately — a redeemed reset credit now exempts the weekly-boundary confirmation guard, so fresh quota shows without waiting out the old boundary (#2710). Thanks @endless7!
- Widgets: bound widget-snapshot file I/O with a defensive timeout and skip further container access once it wedges, so a blocked macOS 26 app-group open() can no longer beachball the app or hang the widget (#2267 follow-up).
- Usage & Spend: keep validated Codex totals visible while the local scanner catches up, with refresh indicators in the dashboard and menu cost rows (#2397). Thanks @hhh2210!
- CLI: stop discarding slow dashboard-snapshot builds after serve request deadlines, so the web dashboard's first load self-heals instead of returning 504 forever.
- CLI:
codexbar servebounds the entire request head (16 KB / 10 s total) instead of only each read, closing a pre-auth slow-trickle hold (#2684). Thanks @OfficialAbhinavSingh! - Antigravity: wait for
agykeyring readiness on cold start (bounded 15s) instead of falling through to the degraded OAuth placeholder (#2665, refs #2427). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao! - Command Code: parse and display 5-hour and weekly rolling limits alongside monthly credits and reset times (#2466). Thanks @derekszen!
- Command Code: recognize the Individual GOAT plan ($70/mo credits) and the new production cookie names while keeping the legacy bare-token fallback (#2706). Thanks @KronixDev!
- OpenRouter: use the server-reported current-period remaining for the key-limit meter and "left" text instead of deriving both from cumulative lifetime usage (#2612, fixes #2605). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- OpenCode Go: include Zen balance in CLI usage reads without waiting beyond five seconds (#2583). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- ZoomMate: preserve browser cookie scope so parent-domain sessions reach both API hosts without leaking host-only cookies (fixes #2507). Thanks @weddle!
- Sync: propagate provider configuration edits made by the CLI or directly in
config.jsonto the iCloud fleet without echoing remotely applied writes. - Usage & Spend: keep priced Codex model rows visible when the history also contains unpriced Auto Review routing rows, labeled as a partial breakdown with ranking removed (#2643). Thanks @akshayprabhu200!
- Codex: document the real cost-cache overshoot contract, fix day-key parsing under non-Gregorian system calendars, and accept all shipped predecessor cache keys so mid-window builds skip pointless rebuilds (#2703). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Perplexity: pin the promo expiry date to English formatting regardless of system locale, matching the rest of the string and the JS plugin (#2651). Thanks @kes02!
0.47.0 — 2026-08-03
Added
- Notion AI: add Business and Enterprise workspace allowance tracking for rolling and billing-period windows (#2552). Thanks @n0ah37!
- Notion AI: pace estimates on both the rolling and billing-period bars, scored against the real calendar month ending at the reset rather than a flat 30 days (#2552). Thanks @n0ah37!
- Sync: opt-in iCloud sync (Settings → iCloud Sync, default off) syncs provider configuration, a curated preferences subset, and per-device usage snapshots across Macs via CloudKit; API keys/cookies/tokens ride end-to-end-encrypted fields with their own opt-out, hooks and machine-local paths never sync, and menus can show accounts from other Macs with last-known usage ("via · 1h ago") when the local fetch is unavailable. The app now also watches
config.json, so external CLI edits apply live. - z.ai: add 7-day and 30-day model-usage chart ranges with dataset-consistent legends, colors, and daily tooltips (#2524). Thanks @LeoLin990405!
- Refresh: add a default-off global Low Power Mode that limits automatic provider, local usage, and storage work to once every 30 minutes while keeping manual refresh immediate (#2518). Thanks @Carl723000!
- CLI:
codexbar hooks watchcontinuously polls providers and fires hooks on real quota/status transitions for headless installs, with in-memory baselines, event rate limits,--interval(default 300s, minimum 60s),--provider, and JSON output (#2536). Thanks @OfficialAbhinavSingh! - Claude: compact multi-account menu for claude-swap — with four or more accounts the active account keeps its full card while the others become one-line rows sorted by remaining headroom, constrained accounts surface in red/amber, the healthiest switch target gets a star, and the healthy tail folds behind a summary row. Click a row to expand its full card.
- Menu: the compact multi-account layout now covers every stacked multi-account list — token accounts on any provider and Codex accounts (flat lists; workspace-grouped Codex lists keep their sections).
- Menu bar: Session/Weekly/Auto pace layout tokens that render the signed pace delta (
+11%,-8%,0%), restoring the pre-0.45 "Both" display in the layout editor (#2540, fixes #2534). Thanks @kratocz! - Menu bar: model-scoped weekly percentage layout token, labeled from the active carve-out while keeping the persistent editor vocabulary model-generic (#2440, addresses #2360). Thanks @lucacampanella!
Fixed
- Notion AI:
codexbarnow honors the provider's Workspace ID, manual cookie header, andoffsource instead of always auto-selecting a workspace (#2552). Thanks @n0ah37! - Providers with monthly billing windows (Notion AI, Amp, MiMo, StepFun, Doubao, Alibaba, OpenCode Go): the menu bar's pace token, the "runs out" estimate, and predictive pace warnings now measure the real calendar cycle, matching the card and the CLI instead of scoring every period as a flat 30 days (#2552). Thanks @n0ah37!
- Cursor: make on-demand extra usage follow the shared optional-usage setting and remove the unsupported credits placeholder (#2338). Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Antigravity/Sessions: inspect processes in-process via libproc instead of spawning full-system ps/lsof, eliminating repeated macOS 26 “access data from other apps” prompts (#2267 hardening).
- Doubao: show Agent Plan windows alongside Coding Plan usage for Volcengine AK/SK accounts that subscribe to both products (#2517). Thanks @Astro-Han!
- Augment: store session cookies owner-only (0600), atomically publish updates, and repair permissions on legacy files (#2567).
- Ollama: direct declined Chrome Keychain access recovery to the provider card's Refresh (⌘R) action instead of the ambiguous manual-cookie path (#2072).
- Menu: merged provider tabs now size to their own content when switching from Overview instead of padding every tab to the tallest provider and leaving large blank regions.
- Codex: persist and budget fork-parent discovery so missing parents quiesce between inventory changes instead of sweeping every rollout on each refresh (#2525, #2538). Thanks @xx205, and @Helmi and @kiranmagic7 for the investigation!
- Claude: Auto cold boot with Keychain disabled loads without manual refresh (#2494, fixes #2493). Thanks @gmkbenjamin!
- Menu: no more stray floating "Refresh" tooltip beside the menu when switching tabs with the cursor over the actions area.
- Providers: write the Factory and Cursor session files (bearer/refresh tokens, auth cookies) owner-only (0600), matching the codex/kimi/antigravity credential stores.
- Menu: keep Overview↔provider switches flash-free by hosting every card row in one reusable AppKit container, including GPU-selection Overview rows.
- Codex: keep confirmed weekly reset lows and confetti private until the previously published reset boundary is due (#2481). Thanks @gmkbenjamin!
- Usage: populate verified z.ai, Kimi, and Grok rate-window durations for pace and forecasts while leaving unknown provider cadences unset (#2431, supersedes #2514). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Command Code: persist validated browser sessions so CLI refreshes and the local service can reuse them (#2541). Thanks @rbonill!
- Menu: provider tab switches no longer blank out card rows mid-switch. Cached tab content is replanted into the attached hosting views (SwiftUI payload swap) instead of detaching
item.view, which made Tahoe's NSMenu paint fallback "NSMenuItem" placeholder rows for a few frames; residual structural churn now renders blank instead of placeholder text. Verified frame-by-frame via 120fps screen recordings driven by the self-probe. - OpenCode Go: read idle WAL-mode local history without creating SQLite sidecars (#2544). Thanks @Astro-Han for the report!
- Keychain: stop "CodexBar Cache" login-keychain password prompts from dev and test tooling. Unbundled processes (
swift buildbinaries, dev CLI runs) now use a process-local cache instead of the shared keychain item, never freeze a broken trusted-app ACL onto it, and test-blocked processes disable legacy keychain interaction process-wide and export the suppression flag to spawned child binaries. - MiMo/StepFun: feed monthly token-plan windows into usage history, pace, and forecasts (#2526, part of #2431). Thanks @LeoLin990405!
- CLI: clearer error when setting an API key for the codex provider — point users to the openai provider for Platform keys (#2510, fixes #2501). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Kiro: explain the kiro-cli requirement when no fetch strategy is available (#2465). Thanks @hxy91819!
- Linux: posix_spawn compatibility for glibc file-actions symbols; musl and Darwin paths unchanged (#2531). Thanks @kocaemre!
- Menu: switching provider tabs no longer flashes. The sibling-tab warmup now runs off a tracking-safe timer (the previous Task-based warmup never fired while the menu was open, which is the only time it matters), and provider tabs share one stable menu height via an invisible spacer, so a switch is a single-frame content swap with no window resize. Verified frame-by-frame with a new env-gated self-probe (
CODEXBAR_FLICKER_PROBE_DIR).
Changed
- About: link the Website entry to codex.bar.
Fixed
- Alibaba: authenticate mainland and international personal Token Plans without a captured Teams workspace, preserve valid sessions on gateway permission errors, and forward optional security tokens (#2533, fixes #2500, #2349, and #2370). Thanks @wait2050!

- Menu: fractional session quota estimates with a condensed weekly forecast row (#2357). Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
Changed
- CLI:
config dumpnow redacts stored credentials by default;--show-secretsrestores raw output (#2410, fixes #2400). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
Fixed
- Keychain: disabling Keychain access no longer breaks Cursor and Claude refresh — cookie caches fall back to memory only, and background Claude checks cannot prompt (#2426, fixes #2408 and #2425). Thanks @gmkbenjamin!
- Claude: keep the switcher bar on the account Weekly quota instead of exhausted model carve-outs (#2424, fixes #2423). Thanks @gmkbenjamin!
- Claude: profile-scoped credential caching so multiple Claude profiles cannot reuse each other's cached credentials, with safe legacy migration (#2484, part of #2380). Thanks @ProspectOre!
- Codex: bound cost scans on giant session corpora with resumable parsing — huge rollouts no longer pin a CPU core and still count fully toward cost history (#2452). Thanks @D4ilyHub!
- Menu bar: center stacked two-line custom layouts vertically (#2347, fixes #2345). Thanks @kiranmagic7, and @lg for the measured report!
- Menu bar: stale
--hook-eventlaunches from other CodexBar installations no longer create duplicate menu bar items (#2416). Thanks @uclort! - Widgets: prevent a WidgetKit reload loop that caused sustained chronod disk writes near quota resets (#2371). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao and @cskeleton!
- Widgets: remove an unintended dark background overlay (#2354). Thanks @jarvisluk!
- Widgets: Claude enterprise spend-cap accounts now persist their extra-usage row instead of synthetic Session/Weekly rows (#2478). Thanks @ChenZiHong-Gavin!
- Claude: hide the Daily Routines row entirely when Anthropic returns a null routines payload (#2450). Thanks @urda!
- Claude: show model-scoped weekly rows above Daily Routines (#2461, fixes #2460). Thanks @Eimerrrrr!
- Claude: tolerate garbled "all models" captures so duplicated weekly rows no longer appear (#2434). Thanks @guhyun9454!
- Amp: parse subscription plans (Megawatt) into proper percentage windows instead of a misleading cookie error (#2438, fixes #2435). Thanks @tylergibbs1 and @diegomrv!
- Grok: explicit cookie-refresh imports browser cookies and caches validated sessions for background reuse (#2458). Thanks @olddonkey!
- Kimi: reliable weekly and API-derived window durations now feed pace and forecasts (#2433). Thanks @harjothkhara!
- Chutes: render quota counts as detail text instead of misreading them as reset schedules (#2402, fixes #2399). Thanks @kiranmagic7!

- Widgets: make Mistral available in provider selection and switching. Thanks @joeVenner!
Changed
- Settings: keep the sidebar fixed and visible while resizing, prevent collapse or over-expansion, and cap detail content width for readability. Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Debug builds: add a compact
Dbeside menu-bar icons and identify them as CodexBar Debug in tooltips and accessibility. - Usage bars: distinguish full-height quota-warning thresholds from subtle workday-boundary markers. Thanks @Alekstodo!
Fixed
- Codex cost history: reuse one pricing catalog while building project rollups and carry fresh cache state across launches, avoiding repeated filesystem work and duplicate background scans on large local histories.
- Providers: detect Claude Desktop on fresh installs and ignore Gemini CLI installations without usable OAuth credentials.
- Claude cost history: include nested Claude Desktop local-agent logs while preserving current Code/Cowork coverage through the shared
~/.claude/projectsstore. Thanks @Zihao-Qi! - Claude: give multiple claude-swap accounts precedence over token-account cards and segmented switching so adapter rows remain visible. Thanks @optimiz-r!
- Menus: scope manual refresh state to the provider being refreshed, allowing independent provider refreshes without greying unrelated rows. Thanks @hhh2210!
- Claude history: quarantine same-directory account-switch samples until credential ownership is stable, preventing plan-utilization history from crossing accounts. Thanks @ss251!
- Language picker: keep language names readable in their native form and make System follow macOS without removing unrelated overrides. Thanks @Zihao-Qi!

Changed
- Codex: compact reset-credit expiry inventory into a single scannable timeline instead of one row per credit.
- Repository: reject oversized tracked blobs and generated release/build artifacts during checks. Thanks @joeVenner!
Fixed
- Alibaba: keep the browser Safe Storage keychain read non-interactive and honor the "Disable Keychain access" setting, so cookie import can never trigger a Keychain prompt.
- Tests: block real Keychain and
securityCLI access by default so test runs cannot display password prompts. - Mistral: discard non-finite and overflowing billing costs so malformed price data cannot poison spend totals or charts. Thanks @joeVenner!
- Claude: notify on model-scoped weekly and Daily Routines quota thresholds using independent warning state. Thanks @cleanerzkp!
- Claude CLI: skip the identity probe after terminal usage errors or loading stalls, cutting failed refresh latency and subprocess churn.
- OpenCode web: search Dia after Chrome for automatic cookie import, with Keychain preflight scoped to the candidate browser (fixes #1822). Thanks @zeajose!
- Claude: make the "Avoid Keychain prompts" setting use the no-prompt policy instead of the experimental
securityCLI reader. Thanks @gmkbenjamin!
0.38.1 — 2026-07-04

Changed
- Branding: replace the app and website icon with a usage-meter prompt mark that matches CodexBar's core UI.
- Website: redesign codexbar.app around faster download, provider discovery, feature, CLI, and widget paths with responsive dark/light and localized layouts. Thanks @vyctorbrzezowski!
- Architecture: accept a bounded opt-in adaptive refresh design with a deterministic 2–30-minute cadence and no behavioral telemetry. Thanks @hhh2210!
- Architecture: define the security and identity boundaries required before custom HTTP JSON providers can be implemented safely.
- Claude: accept a display-only multi-account design based on read-only
claude-swap --list --json, without account switching or credential storage. - Notifications: accept a default-off predictive pace warning design that alerts once per risk episode and re-arms only after authoritative recovery.
- OpenCode Go: accept bounded automatic multi-workspace fan-out while preserving the configured workspace as an exact single-workspace override.
- Xiaomi MiMo: require authoritative cadence evidence before showing reserve or deficit projections, avoiding guesses from plan dates or names.
Fixed
- Gemini: resolve fnm from the active PATH, stop package-discovery helpers on deadline, and return after the first output line even when descendants keep stdout open.

- z.ai: support saved token-account team usage with account-scoped organization and project metadata. Thanks @zqbake!
- CLI: show session pace in text output, expose derived pace data in JSON, and honor the configured weekly work-day baseline. Thanks @kmatsunami!
- Claude: add a combined "Session + Weekly" menu bar metric that shows the 5-hour session and weekly lanes together (paced on the weekly lane), matching Codex, and classify lanes by cadence so a weekly-only account is not mislabeled as a session. Thanks @Shengqiang-Zhang!
Changed
- Settings: complete redesign as a System Settings-style window — a sidebar lists app panes plus every provider (search, drag reorder, status dots, enable via context menu), panes use native grouped forms, the window keeps one size instead of resizing per tab, and the last selected pane is remembered across launches.
- Menu: group Plan Usage, Cost, and Storage rows so related account usage is easier to scan. Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
Fixed
- Usage refresh: refresh provider data shortly after known quota reset boundaries instead of leaving expired reset times visible until the next normal poll. Thanks @pavbar!

- Claude: use the dedicated Claude Code authentication command for sign-in, report its real exit status, and stop treating a browser URL as completed login (fixes #1715).
- OpenAI API: explain that project service-account keys cannot read organization usage instead of surfacing a generic credit-balance HTTP 401 error (fixes #1792). Thanks @dhruv-anand-aintech!

- Overview: render row selection on the GPU to keep trackpad scrolling smooth. Thanks @hhh2210!
- Codex cost history: count cache reads separately, deduplicate active and archived sessions at row level, and preserve cached days across narrow refreshes. Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Pi cost history: price Codex cache reads once using their true context size. Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Menu bar: in the combined "Session + Weekly" metric (Codex and Claude), pair the 5-hour session usage with the weekly pace in pace and both display modes instead of showing the busier (most-constrained) lane's usage, which mislabeled the readout as weekly usage + weekly pace. Thanks @Shengqiang-Zhang!
- Menu bar: in the combined "Session + Weekly" metric, ignore Claude web's synthetic 0% five-hour placeholder (emitted for accounts with no live session window but a real weekly lane) so the readout shows the weekly lane instead of a non-existent
5h 0%/5h 100%session. - Memory pressure: finish isolating utility-queue source reads from main-actor state to prevent the remaining callback crash. Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Kiro: run account, usage, and context commands through a PTY so current CLI versions return usage without timing out. Thanks @sf-jin-ku!

- PTY probes: preserve Darwin device identifiers without crashing when Intel macOS reports signed values.
- CLI server: collect
/usageproviders concurrently under finite per-provider deadlines so one hung provider degrades to its own error row without discarding healthy results. Thanks @enieuwy! - Privacy: hide account and team identity values without showing a
Hiddenplaceholder or empty account rows. Thanks @Zihao-Qi! - Mistral: restore Vibe monthly-plan usage by forwarding only required console session cookies. Thanks @lfmundim!

0%instead of a signed+0%or-0%when the pace delta rounds to zero. Thanks @devYRPauli! - Menu: align the persistent Refresh row with native actions, keep Settings, About, and Quit keyboard-navigable, and use a narrower Usage Dashboard icon. Thanks @Zihao-Qi!

- Localization: reject blank translated values and restore the affected Vietnamese provider prompts. Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Usage totals: keep Today tied to the current local calendar day across cost, Admin API, and Poe surfaces instead of showing the latest historical bucket. Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Antigravity: align compact icons and automatic highest-usage selection with grouped Gemini and Claude/GPT 5-hour and weekly lanes while ignoring non-renderable cadences. Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Antigravity CLI: reuse an authenticated user-launched
agyserver for faster, more reliable one-shot usage checks. Thanks @junmo-kim!

Fixed
- Menu bar: preserve native AppKit image-row alignment when returning to cached provider content in the open merged menu (#1560). Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Menu bar: defer hosted submenu reconstruction until an active refresh finishes so partial provider data cannot replace the visible menu (#1556). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!

- Claude: keep segmented multi-account menus scoped to the selected account while its refresh is in flight (fixes #1527).
- Command Code: keep showing available credits after the bounded optional subscription grace, including when the transport ignores cancellation (fixes #1131).

- Provider probes: stop waiting indefinitely for inherited output pipes after subprocesses or CLI version checks exit (fixes #1531).
- Menu bar: update visible usage values in place when a manual refresh completes instead of leaving the open provider card stale until the menu is reopened (fixes #1516).

gemini-api-keyCLI auth setting so API-key sessions show the supported OAuth guidance instead of a misleading not-logged-in error (fixes #1511). - Kiro: keep usage refreshes bounded and clean up CLI helpers when they retain output pipes, ignore termination, or are cancelled (fixes #1533). Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Gemini: keep fnm package discovery bounded when helper descendants retain output pipes or ignore termination (fixes #1534). Thanks @kiranmagic7!

- Xiaomi MiMo: add an opt-in local session-log fallback for token accounting when browser quota authentication is unavailable (#1284). Thanks @LeoLin990405!
- Weekly pace: use configured work days for standard weekly pace calculations while leaving historical Codex pacing unchanged (#1451, fixes #1356). Thanks @pstanton237!
Fixed
- Security: prevent test and infrastructure cookie-import paths from accessing real browser profiles, SQLite stores, or Keychain data unless explicitly enabled (#1491).
- Menu bar: stop the provider-switcher shortcut monitor from killing the menu's event tracking session. Its event-queue peek re-entered the run loop in tracking mode, which could leave a zombie menu on screen that ignored clicks for tens of seconds (beach ball) — most often right after opening the menu or after rapid Cmd-number provider switching, with Settings… the usual victim. Peeks now run in a barren private run-loop mode, start only once the tracking session is pumping, and no longer touch mouse events. Thanks @ProspectOre!
- Menu bar: rebuild merged provider content inside AppKit's active tracking run loop so provider switches no longer wait for the menu to close or the default run loop to resume.
- Menu bar: keep cached provider content visible while switching merged tabs so the open menu no longer flickers through an empty state.
- Menu bar: restore native macOS positioning for merged provider dropdowns while preparing current content before AppKit lays out the menu.
- Menu bar: avoid starting a duplicate background provider refresh when the menu closes while its initial missing-data refresh is still in flight.
- Menu bar: pin the status-item dropdown to the current system appearance so it follows the Light/Dark setting instead of inheriting the menu bar's vibrant appearance, which rendered the menu dark in Light mode whenever a dark or strongly-colored window or wallpaper sat behind the menu bar (#1490). Thanks @npapridonu!
- Menu bar: handle the global open-menu shortcut synchronously so repeated presses close the tracked menu instead of queueing a delayed reopen (#1470). Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Menu bar: keep the selected quota percentage visible in Pace mode when pace is temporarily unavailable instead of collapsing to an icon-only status item (fixes #1462).
- Settings: memoize cookie cache lookups behind the "Cached: …" picker labels so opening Settings and switching panes no longer pays a synchronous Keychain read per SwiftUI body evaluation, which froze the Providers pane for seconds (#1471). Thanks @ProspectOre!
- Settings: keep the native tab toolbar in sync when macOS switches appearance while the window is open (#1484). Thanks @hhh2210!
- Launch at Login: remove pending registrations when disabled without re-registering entries awaiting user approval (#1469). Thanks @AmrMohamad!
- Diagnostics: enforce probe timeouts even when an underlying provider operation ignores Swift task cancellation.

- Cursor: derive a first-party web session from the signed-in Cursor.app as a final fallback, preserving account precedence and legacy request quotas (#1295). Thanks @Jackie-Qin!
- Claude: explain that an unauthorized Web session requires signing in at claude.ai or refreshing imported cookies (#1287). Thanks @LeoLin990405!
- CLI server: reload provider config for every usage and cost request, invalidate config-dependent cache entries, and prune expired config variants without restarting
codexbar serve. Thanks @enieuwy! - Menu bar: reserve quota-bar space consistently across Overview and provider switcher segments so selection no longer changes segment height (#1445). Thanks @Zihao-Qi!
- Cost usage: accept normal models.dev catalog churn while retaining prior model prices as fallbacks, so newly priced models appear without requiring a manual cache reset (#1438). Thanks @tom-rigelblu!
- Menu bar: detect Tahoe Control Center proxy windows parked in the blocked offscreen slot during startup recovery, so hidden icons show the existing guidance without weakening menu-bar-manager safeguards (#1440).
- AWS Bedrock: treat Cost Explorer's temporary data-unavailable response as zero usage instead of an HTTP 400 error (#1324). Thanks @enesteve0!
- Provider switcher: inset quota bars inside fixed-height segments so icons, labels, and selected pills remain vertically centered.
- Doubao: show an unavailable quota state when Ark omits trustworthy request-limit data instead of reporting 100% left.

- Cursor: show the Safari Full Disk Access recovery hint before the long browser login list so permission guidance remains visible when menu errors truncate (#1419, fixes #1417). Thanks @hhh2210!
- Cursor: present legacy request-based plans as one Requests quota with the raw used/limit count instead of unrelated token-based Auto/API bars (#1420, fixes #1418). Thanks @hhh2210!
- Cost usage: memoize Codex priority-turn trace metadata incrementally so warm refreshes scan only appended rows instead of rescanning large trace databases (#1404). Thanks @ProspectOre!

- Localization: add Japanese as a selectable app language (#1385). Thanks @naoterumaker!
Fixed
- Menu bar: keep large dynamic Cost totals inside the fixed-width hosted row so switching providers no longer widens the menu or misaligns submenu arrows.
- Cost history: keep all per-day model breakdown rows available in a bounded scrolling detail area instead of hiding models after the first four (#1370). Thanks @MoollaMore!
- Cost usage: run local session-corpus scans and cache decoding on a dedicated serial queue instead of the Swift cooperative thread pool, so multi-minute scans of large archives no longer starve the app's async work or freeze menus (#1387, #1392). Thanks @ProspectOre!
- Copilot: keep explicitly unlimited chat quotas visible instead of dropping their zero-entitlement payload as unavailable (#1320). Thanks @soumikbhatta!
- Security: block credentialed provider redirects that leave the original HTTPS origin while preserving same-origin redirects (#1237). Thanks @Hinotoi-agent!
- Codex: keep local token and cost history visible when remote quota data is unavailable (#1390). Thanks @vaibhavarora14!

NSMenutracking callback so in-menu copy buttons no longer beachball on macOS 26 (#1388). Thanks @LeoLin990405! - Menu bar: defer merged status-icon redraws until the tracked menu closes while preserving animation lifecycle and quota-warning timing, reducing WindowServer churn during long menu sessions (#1409, fixes #1399). Thanks @kiranmagic7!
- Provider status: decode status feeds on the concurrent executor and reuse ISO8601 formatters, removing a measured main-thread stall during refreshes (#1406). Thanks @ProspectOre!
- Menu bar: keep one stable width across merged provider tabs and resize every hosted card row to AppKit's final menu width so provider switching no longer leaves a widened menu with inset submenu arrows (#1410).
- Menu bar: keep Codex
auth.jsonreads, JWT parsing, and fingerprint hashing off the menu-build path by rendering a cached account snapshot and revalidating it asynchronously (#1401). Thanks @ProspectOre! - Menu bar: defer Overview-row provider transitions out of AppKit's click callback so opening provider detail no longer performs a full synchronous menu rebuild (#1325).
- Menu bar: open cached menus immediately after data-only invalidations, then refresh missing or stale provider data asynchronously without queuing redundant work on close (#1398). Thanks @joshuavial!
- Menu bar: recycle SwiftUI card hosting views across data refreshes and provider switches, and reconcile matching menu rows in place instead of removing and reinserting every row, cutting open-click, switch, and idle rebuild cost (#1394). Thanks @bcssewl!
- Menu bar: gate the provider-switcher shortcut monitor's event-queue peek behind session event counters so hover-driven menu tracking no longer calls
NSApp.nextEventon every run-loop pass (#1397). Thanks @bcssewl! - Development: disable Keychain access for unbundled executables to avoid repeated password prompts while preserving packaged app behavior (#1271). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Antigravity: exclude model quotas without a remaining fraction from family summaries so they no longer mask tracked usage in the automatic menu-bar metric (#1369). Thanks @Martin-Hausleitner!

- Menu: reuse unchanged hosted chart submenus and precompute utilization history models to reduce expand and hover stalls (#1379). Thanks @hhh2210!
- Menu bar: defer data-refresh rebuilds until the tracked menu closes, avoiding multi-second WindowServer stalls with slower providers such as Grok (#1376). Thanks @jangisaac-dev!
- OpenAI Web: evict cached dashboard WebViews after their idle timeout even when no later cache activity occurs, releasing hidden WebKit helper processes (#1386). Thanks @naoterumaker!

Fixed
- Menu bar: keep provider switching inside AppKit's menu-tracking transaction and defer structural dropdown rebuilds until mouse-up completes, preventing intermittent hangs when moving between providers and Overview.
- Localization: cache resolved localized bundles so repeated menu/status text lookups no longer hit disk on the main thread (#1355, fixes #1347). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Menu bar: size hosted chart submenus directly instead of spinning up throwaway SwiftUI hosting controllers during menu layout (#1352). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Menu bar: avoid recomputing expensive readiness signatures on closed-menu store ticks while preserving root-open refresh correctness for deferred observations (#1351). Thanks @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Menu bar: defer Quit from the status menu until AppKit menu tracking unwinds so shutdown does not wedge Dock autohide state (#1354, fixes #1353). Thanks @jskoiz!
- Claude: remove transient ClaudeProbe session artifacts after CLI usage polls so background refreshes no longer fill Claude Code project history with CodexBar
/usagesessions (#1301). Thanks @LPFchan and @matthewod11-stack! - Menu bar: keep z.ai overview rows with detail submenus in Overview so hovering quota details no longer recurses into a nested provider menu (#1279, fixes #1246). Thanks @RajvardhanPatil07!

- Cursor: show deficit and run-out pace details for 30-day Total, Auto, and API billing-cycle usage rows (#1336). Thanks @dhruv-anand-aintech!

- Antigravity: make the automatic menu-bar summary choose the most constrained family quota so an exhausted Gemini lane is no longer hidden by a full Claude lane (#1334). Thanks @dhruv-anand-aintech!
- Performance: memoize models.dev cost catalog load outcomes so large Codex history scans no longer re-read and decode the same cache file per row (#1322, refs #1311). Thanks @turbothad!
- Menu bar: compute Claude pace/reserve from the selected menu-bar metric window so Primary (Session) no longer pairs the session percentage with the weekly reserve (#1302). Thanks @outfoxer!
- Menu bar: defer merged-menu close rebuilds and cache repeated menu-card height measurements so dismissing or rapidly switching the merged dropdown avoids rebuilding SwiftUI-backed cards on the main thread (#1274, #1286, #1314). Thanks @hhh2210!
- Menu bar: keep merged provider tab selection from invalidating broad settings observers so switching providers no longer triggers background refresh and status-icon work.
- Menu bar: observe a compact icon-state signature so merged status icons no longer redraw for provider snapshot changes that cannot affect the visible icon (#1297). Thanks @hhh2210!
- Menu bar: keep provider-switcher quota bars from replacing Auto Layout constraints when the visible ratio is unchanged, making tab switches responsive with many providers enabled (#1303, #1315). Thanks @juanjoseluisgarcia!

kiro-cliis no longer stuck as missing for the whole app session (#1316). Thanks @bt-justtrack!
0.32.4 — 2026-06-02

- Menu bar: cache provider brand icons so merged-icon status updates no longer repeatedly parse SVG assets on the main thread during hover/open animations (#1235, #1274). Thanks @andradebruno, @xingpz2008, and @Yuxin-Qiao!
- Copilot: treat GitHub Copilot Business token-billing zero-entitlement quotas as unavailable instead of showing misleading 0% used usage (#1258, #1270). Thanks @devYRPauli!
- Menu bar: prepare closed menus after refresh and only reuse stale dropdown content for data-refresh invalidations so merged menu opens stay responsive without bypassing privacy or structure changes (#1261). Thanks @ProspectOre!

0.32.1 — 2026-05-31

- Release: isolate notarization API keys and upload ZIPs in a private per-run temporary directory instead of predictable shared /tmp paths (#1228). Thanks @Hinotoi-agent!

- CI/tooling reliability improved via pinned lint tools, deterministic macOS test execution, and PTY timing test stabilization plus Node 24-ready GitHub Actions upgrades (#292, #312, #290).
Claude OAuth & Keychain
- Claude OAuth creds are cached in CodexBar Keychain to reduce repeated prompts.
- Prompts can still appear when Claude OAuth credentials are expired, invalid, or missing and re-auth is required.
- In Auto mode, background refresh keeps prompts suppressed; interactive prompts are limited to user actions (menu open or manual refresh).
- OAuth-only mode remains strict (no silent Web/CLI fallback); Auto mode may do one delegated CLI refresh + one OAuth retry before falling back.
- Preferences now expose a Claude Keychain prompt policy (Never / Only on user action / Always allow prompts) under Providers → Claude; if global Keychain access is disabled in Advanced, this control remains visible but inactive.
Provider & Usage Fixes
- Warp: add Warp provider support (credits + add-on credits), configurable via Settings or

0.11.2 — 2025-12-21
- ccusage-codex cost fetch is faster and more reliable by limiting the session scan window.
- Fix ccusage cost fetch hanging for large Codex histories by draining subprocess output while commands run.
- Fix merged-icon loading animation when another provider is fetching (only the selected provider animates).

- Unified menu bar icon mode with a provider switcher and Merge Icons toggle (default on when multiple providers are enabled). Thanks @ibehnam!
- Fix regression from 0.9.1 where CLI detection failed for some installs by restoring interactive login-shell PATH loading.
0.9.1 — 2025-12-19
- CLI resolution now uses the login shell PATH directly (no more heuristic path scanning), so Codex/Claude match your shell config reliably.
0.9.0 — 2025-12-19
- New optional OpenAI web access: reuses your signed-in Safari/Chrome session to show Code review remaining, Usage breakdown, and Credits usage history in the menu (no credentials stored).
- Credits still come from the Codex CLI; OpenAI web access is only used for the dashboard extras above.
- OpenAI web sessions auto-sync to the Codex CLI email, support multiple accounts, and reset/re-import cookies on account switches to avoid stale cross-account data.
- Fix Chrome cookie import (macOS 10): signed-in Chrome sessions are detected reliably (thanks @tobihagemann!).
- Usage breakdown submenu: compact chart with hover details for day/service totals.
- New “Show usage as used” toggle to invert progress bars (default remains “% left”, now in Advanced).
- Session (5-hour) reset now shows a relative countdown (“Resets in 3h 31m”) in the menu card for Codex and Claude.
- Claude: fix reset parsing so “Resets …” can’t be mis-attributed to the wrong window (session vs weekly).
0.8.1 — 2025-12-17
- Claude trust prompts (“Do you trust the files in this folder?”) are now auto-accepted during probes to prevent stuck refreshes. Thanks @tobihagemann!
0.8.0 — 2025-12-17
- CodexBar is now available via Homebrew:
brew install --cask steipete/tap/codexbar(updates viabrew upgrade --cask steipete/tap/codexbar). - Added session quota notifications for the sliding 5-hour window (Codex + Claude): notifies when it hits 0% and when it’s available again, based only on observed refresh data (including startup when already depleted). Thanks @GKannanDev!
0.7.3 — 2025-12-17
- Claude Enterprise accounts whose Claude Code
/usagepanel only shows “Current session” no longer fail parsing; weekly usage is treated as unavailable (fixes #19).
0.7.2 — 2025-12-13
- Claude “Open Dashboard” now routes subscription accounts (Max/Pro/Ultra/Team) to the usage page instead of the API console billing page. Thanks @auroraflux!
- Codex/Claude binary resolution now detects mise/rtx installs (shims and newest installed tool version), fixing missing CLI detection for mise users. Thanks @philipp-spiess!
- Claude usage/status probes now auto-accept the first-run “Ready to code here?” permission prompt (when launched from Finder), preventing timeouts and parse errors. Thanks @alexissan!
- General preferences now surface full Codex/Claude fetch errors with one-click copy and expandable details, reducing first-run confusion when a CLI is missing.
- Polished the menu bar “critter” icons: Claude is now a crisper, blockier pixel crab, and Codex has punchier eyes with reduced blurring in SwiftUI/menu rendering.
0.7.1 — 2025-12-09
- Menu bar icons now render on a true 18 pt/2× backing with pixel-aligned bars and overlays for noticeably crisper edges.
- PTY runner now preserves the caller’s environment (HOME/TERM/bun installs) while enriching PATH, preventing Codex/Claude probes from failing when CLIs are installed via bun/nvm or need their auth/config paths.
- Added regression tests to lock in the enriched environment behavior.
- Fixed a first-launch crash on macOS 26 caused by the 1×1 keepalive window triggering endless constraint updates; the hidden window now uses a safe size and no longer spams SwiftUI state warnings.
- Menu action rows now ship with SF Symbol icons (refresh, dashboard, status, settings, about, quit, copy error) for clearer at-a-glance affordances.
- When the Codex CLI is missing, menu and CLI now surface an actionable install hint (
npm i -g @openai/codex/ bun) instead of a generic PATH error. - Node manager (nvm/fnm) resolution corrected so codex/claude binaries — and their
node— are found reliably even when installed via fnm aliases or nvm defaults. Thanks @aliceisjustplaying for surfacing the gaps. - Login menu now shows phase-specific subtitles and disables interaction while running: “Requesting login…” while starting the CLI, then “Waiting in browser…” once the auth URL is printed; success still triggers the macOS notification.
- Login state is tracked per provider so Codex and Claude icons/menus no longer share the same in-flight status when switching accounts.
- Claude login PTY runner detects the auth URL without clearing buffers, keeps the session alive until confirmation, and exposes a Sendable phase callback used by the menu.
- Claude CLI detection now includes Claude Code’s self-updating paths (
~/.claude/local/claude,~/.claude/bin/claude) so PTY probes work even when only the bundled installer is used.
0.7.0 — 2025-12-07

- New bundled CLI (
codexbar) with singleusagecommand,--format text|json,--status, and fast-h/-V. - CLI output now shows consistent headers (
Codex 0.x.y (codex-cli),Claude Code <ver> (claude)) and JSON includessource+status. - Advanced prefs install button symlinks
codexbarinto /usr/local/bin and /opt/homebrew/bin; docs refreshed.
0.5.7 — 2025-11-26
- Status Page and Usage Dashboard menu actions now honor the icon you click; Codex menus no longer open the Claude status site.
0.5.6 — 2025-11-25
- New playful “Surprise me” option adds occasional blinks/tilts/wiggles to the menu bar icons (one random effect at a time) plus a Debug “Blink now” trigger.
- Preferences now include an Advanced tab (refresh cadence, Surprise me toggle, Debug visibility); window height trimmed ~20% for a tighter fit.
- Motion timing eased and lengthened so blinks/wiggles feel smoother and less twitchy.
0.5.5 — 2025-11-25
- Claude usage scrape now recognizes the new “Current week (Sonnet only)” bar while keeping the legacy Opus label as a fallback.
- Menu and docs now label the Claude tertiary limit as Sonnet to match the latest CLI wording.
- PATH seeding now uses a deterministic binary locator plus a one-shot login-shell capture at startup (no globbed nvm paths); the Debug tab shows the resolved Codex binary and effective PATH layers.
0.5.4 — 2025-11-24
- Status blurb under “Status Page” no longer prefixes the text with “Status:”, keeping the incident description concise.
- PTY runner now registers cleanup before launch so both ends of the TTY and the process group are torn down even when
Process.run()throws (no leaked fds when spawn fails).
0.5.3 — 2025-11-22
- Added a per-provider “Status Page” menu item beneath Usage that opens the provider’s live status page (OpenAI or Claude).
- Status API now refreshes alongside usage; incident states show a dot/! overlay on the status icon plus a status blurb under the menu item.
- General preferences now include a default-on “Check provider status” toggle above refresh cadence.
0.5.2 — 2025-11-22
- Release packaging now includes uploading the dSYM archive alongside the app zip to aid crash symbolication (policy documented in the shared mac release guide).
- Claude PTY fallback removed: Claude probes now rely solely on
scriptstdout parsing, and the generic TTY runner is trimmed to Codex/statushandling. - Fixed a busy-loop on the codex RPC stderr pipe (handler now detaches on EOF), eliminating the long-running high-CPU spin reported in issue #9.
0.5.1 — 2025-11-22
- Debug pane now exposes the Claude parse dump toggle, keeping the captured raw scrape in memory for inspection.
- Claude About/debug views embed the current git hash so builds can be identified precisely.
- Minor runtime robustness tweaks in the PTY runner and usage fetcher.
0.5.0 — 2025-11-22
- Codex usage/credits now use the codex app-server RPC by default (with PTY
/statusfallback when RPC is unavailable), reducing flakiness and speeding refreshes. - Codex CLI launches seed PATH with Homebrew/bun/npm/nvm/fnm defaults to avoid ENOENT in hardened/release builds; TTY probes reuse the same PATH.
- Claude CLI probe now runs
/usageand/statusin parallel (no simulated typing), captures reset strings, and uses a resilient parser (label-first with ordered fallback) while keeping org/email separate by provider. - TTY runner now always tears down the spawned process group (even on early Claude login prompts) to avoid leaking CLI processes.
- Default refresh cadence is now 5 minutes, and a 15-minute option was added to the settings picker.
- Claude probes/version detection now start with
--allowed-tools ""(tool access disabled) while keeping interactive PTY mode working. - Codex probes and version detection now launch the CLI with
-s read-only -a untrustedto keep PTY runs sandboxed. - Codex warm-up screens (“data not available yet”) are handled gracefully: cached credits stay visible and the menu skips the scary parse error.
- Codex reset times are shown for both RPC and TTY fallback, and plan labels are capitalized while emails stay verbatim.
0.4.3 — 2025-11-21
- Fix status item creation timing on macOS 15 by deferring NSStatusItem setup to after launch; adds a regression test for the path.
- Menu bar icon with unknown usage now draws empty tracks (instead of a full bar when decorations are shown) by treating nil values as 0%.
0.4.2 — 2025-11-21
- Sparkle updates re-enabled in release builds (disabled only for the debug bundle ID).
0.4.1 — 2025-11-21
- Both Codex and Claude probes now run off the main thread (background PTY), avoiding menu/UI stalls during
/statusor/usagefetches. - Codex credits stay available even when
/statustimes out: cached values are kept and errors are surfaced separately. - Claude/Codex provider autodetect runs on first launch (defaults to Codex if neither is installed) with a debug reset button.
- Sparkle updates re-enabled in release builds (disabled only for debug bundle ID).
- Claude probe now issues the
/usageslash command directly to land on the Usage tab reliably and avoid palette misfires.
0.4.0 — 2025-11-21
- Claude Code support: dedicated Claude menu/icon plus dual-wired menus when both providers are enabled; shows email/org/plan and Sonnet usage with clickable errors.
- New Preferences window: General/About tabs with provider toggles, refresh cadence, start-at-login, and always-on Quit.
- Codex credits without web login: we now read
codex /statusin a PTY, auto-skip the update prompt, and parse session/weekly/credits; cached credits stay visible on transient timeouts. - Resilience: longer PTY timeouts, cached-credit fallback, one-line menu errors, and clearer parse/update messages.
0.3.0 — 2025-11-18
- Credits support: reads Codex CLI
/statusvia PTY (no browser login), shows remaining credits inline, and moves history to a submenu. - Sign-in window with cookie reuse and a logout/clear-cookies action; waits out workspace picker and auto-navigates to usage page.
- Menu: credits line bolded; login prompt hides once credits load; debug toggle always visible (HTML dump).
- Icon: when weekly is empty, top bar becomes a thick credits bar (capped at 1k); otherwise bars stay 5h/weekly.
0.2.2 — 2025-11-17
- Menu bar icon stays static when no account/usage is present; loading animation only runs while fetching (12 fps) to keep idle CPU low.
- Usage refresh first tails the newest session log (512 KB window) before scanning everything, reducing IO on large Codex logs.
- Packaging/signing hardened: strip extended attributes, delete AppleDouble (
._*) files, and re-sign Sparkle + app bundle to satisfy Gatekeeper.
0.2.1 — 2025-11-17
- Patch bump for refactor/relative-time changes; packaging scripts set to 0.2.1 (5).
- Streamlined Codex usage parsing: modern rate-limit handling, flexible reset time parsing, and account rate-limit updates (thanks @jazzyalex and https://jazzyalex.github.io/agent-sessions/).
0.2.0 — 2025-11-16
- CADisplayLink-based loading animations (macOS 15 displayLink API) with randomized patterns (Knight Rider, Cylon, outside-in, race, pulse) and debug replay cycling through all.
- Debug replay toggle (
defaults write com.steipete.codexbar debugMenuEnabled -bool YES) to view every pattern. - Usage Dashboard link in menu; menu layout tweaked.
- Updated time now shows relative formatting when fresher than 24h; refactored sources into smaller files for maintainability.
- Version bumped to 0.2.0 (4).

- Sparkle embedding/signing fixed with deep+timestamp; notarization pipeline solid.
- Icon conversion scripted via ictool with docs.
- Menu: settings submenu, no GitHub item; About link clickable.
0.1.1 — 2025-11-16

- Sparkle auto-update wiring (SUFeedURL to GitHub, SUPublicEDKey set); Settings submenu with auto-update toggle + Check for Updates.
- Menu cleanup: settings grouped, GitHub menu removed, About link clickable.
- Usage parser scans newest session logs until it finds
token_countevents. - Icon pipeline fixed: regenerated
.icnsvia ictool with proper transparency (docs in docs/icon.md). - Added lint/format configs, Swift Testing, strict concurrency, and usage parser tests.
- Notarized release build "CodexBar-0.1.0.zip" remains current artifact; app version 0.1.1.
0.1.0 — 2025-11-16
- Initial CodexBar release: macOS 15+ menu bar app, no Dock icon.
- Reads latest Codex CLI
token_countevents from session logs (5h + weekly usage, reset times); no extra login or browser scraping. - Shows account email/plan decoded locally from
auth.json. - Horizontal dual-bar icon (top = 5h, bottom = weekly); dims on errors.
- Configurable refresh cadence, manual refresh, and About links.
- Async off-main log parsing for responsiveness; strict-concurrency build flags enabled.
- Packaging + signing/notarization scripts (arm64); build scripts convert
.iconbundle to.icns.
